Let’s make
some room.
Edgewide is a free Safari extension designed for the iPhone Duo’s outer display. Find setup instructions and help with the app here.
Say hello.
A setup question, a page that needs attention, or an idea for Edgewide — we’d like to hear from you.
Set up Edgewide
- Install the Edgewide app, then open Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions → Edgewide.
- Turn on Allow Extension. Give permission to the websites you choose, or allow All Websites.
- Open a normal webpage in Safari. Open the page menu → Edgewide → Wide. Wide starts off until you enable it.
- Optionally enable Detect controls side automatically, or leave it off and choose Left or Right yourself.
If a page doesn’t look right
Open Edgewide in Safari’s page menu and exclude that site, or choose Off to restore the original layout. Check that Safari has given Edgewide permission for that website. If you just updated the app, refresh an existing tab once to load the updated extension.
What to include in your message
- Your iOS version and Edgewide version.
- The website address and a short description of what happened.
- Whether you were in portrait or landscape, and which control side was selected.
- A screenshot if useful, with private information removed.
Please don’t send passwords, account details, private page contents, or other sensitive information.
A few things to know
Edgewide changes webpage layouts, not Safari’s own controls. It is designed for the Duo outer display and leaves other screen sizes and declared desktop layouts alone. Custom page structures, embedded content, and some controls may not adjust as expected. Safari Reader view is not supported; exit Reader to use Wide.
Automatic side selection uses available screen signals and the Duo orientation calibration. You can always switch to a manual side when needed.
